The lyrics of Faye Wong's song, "Yi Xiong" are good too! I shall share some lines..
你的英勇是他的残忍
One's courage is another's cruelty being inflicted
(yeah.. this is a good line! Never had it put to me as clearly as in this line.. Bravery may be something one can be proud of if one is capable of that, but it's actually not something one can be happy about.. Because the fact that one is able to train oneself to be brave, must be due to cruel circumstances that one has come to face. But in times like that, what else can one hold on to other than bravery? I guess hope may come to mind.. But I now come to think, bravery is actually better than hope, isn't it? )
谁都忘记了宽容
只想着自己的英勇
We have forgotten to forgive. We think only of our own glory.
Great song of Faye Wong's.. She has an amazing voice.. Gotta check out more of her songs! Right now I know only one other song of hers i.e. "Eyes On Me".. I'll stream her other songs if I find more nice ones!
And Zhang Yi Mou is one of my well-liked directors too! He is capable of taking one's breath away with the colours and majesty in his movie scenes, and his older movies may seem abstract and too slow to be of excite any interest.. But, I think the deep dialogue in "Hero" makes me concentrate more on it since it's harder to understand, and it then draws me in. Deep dialogue (belonging to another period, hence it's also irrelevant to us) may seem ostentatious, but in this movie - it works! The 'old-times-speak' impresses me.. And they carry many good messages.. And it's unbelievable the way people float in his movies, more so coz it's as though time is crawling for them.. They glide along, so, so, slowly...... But I wanted to say that it actually works for me too.. The gracefulness of it is quite an art! Nice sight to take in.. With movies like "Hero", Zhang Yi Mou has put himself in a league of his own.. I remember I was bored with "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon".. May watch it again if I have the time!
Bye bye for now!
