Oh My Gawd.. I've been checking up on Australian universities, and just as I've almost decided on going to either a university in South Australia (where Adelaide is for example, it's the quieter area in Australia) or either Monash University in Melbourne.. I found out that a shooting happened in that very uni in 2002! What the hell. 2 people were killed, 5 injured. And I've been checking out on the net, and people seem to say Melbourne is not as bad as Sydney somemore.. Less crowded.. Kind of student friendly.. Although all sources do say crime happens in every city.. Monash has got campuses scattered in different areas of the town Victoria, I think.. Wonder which particular one the shooting took place.. And a newspaper report had someone commenting that Victoria is a 'nice little town', so it's crazy that it should have happened.. Shitz.. I think I'll like to go to a town where it's more challenging than South Australia sort of.. Coz I want to do film, and learn about mixing with people and stuff.. So I thought of going some place more 'challenging' than South Australia, and I didn't want the worse.. So I thought Melbourne would be less stressful as Sydney.. Sydney has this widespread city skyline, and the buildings all crowd together, and it looks kinda suffocating.. Melbourne's skyline looks less widespread, and I thought maybe it's not so bad.. Like Singapore's skyline spreads just over a small distance.. Melbourne's also the closest to Adelaide.. Can take train to visit Justina at Uni of Adelaide or sth.. Will take about 1/2 a day though..

Taken from Wikipedia:

Melbourne -
Melbourne is a major centre of commerce, industry and cultural activity. The city is often referred to as Australia's "sporting and cultural capital" [2] and it is home to many of the nation's most significant cultural and sporting events and institutions. Melbourne is notable for its mix of Victorian and contemporary architecture, its extensive tram network and Victorian parks and gardens, and its diverse, multicultural society.

Sydney -
Sydney is located on Australia's south-east coast. The city is built around Port Jackson, which includes Sydney Harbour, leading to the city's nickname, "the Harbour City". It is Australia's largest financial centre and is home to the Australian Stock Exchange . Sydney's leading economic sectors include property and business services, retail, manufacturing, tourism, and health and community services.Sydney is a major international tourist destination notable for its beaches and twin landmarks: the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. The metropolitan area is surrounded by national parks, and contains many bays, rivers and inlets.

Sydney seems to be real concerned about economic activity.. It just seems like a huge economic centre, and if that's gonna be the main thing there, it isn't so suitable for me.. And population wise, indeed Melbourne is less crowded..

Melbourne - 3,744,373
Sydney - 4,284,379

Something like that not expected to happen in the town apparently..

Student was acting crazy already..

So can I believe that Melbourne will be alright for me? Coz not only is the choice of uni important, environment is also impt to shape one's character.. And Monash Uni -is- a good name.. I will still hv to consider what can get me a job that earns money.. Yah, 'sheeesh'.. But I do accept reality as much.. I need to factor in such considerations, while I try to do what I like.. Monash has an arts degree, and allows me to study film and tv studies.. But another thing is.. They just set up the film and tv studies about 2 years ago.. There, problem again! But Monash is Monash right, wonder if it's still gonna be okay? And I'll like to take other electives like philosophy too.. Hah! I could email them to ask about their film and tv studies

Gosh, this period of time my brain is so occupied with all these many, many considerations. Not easy at all. And I'm finally getting down to film a small movie of my own. Will be a video of just a few minutes. Like a feature film. Coz I heard there's a requirement of a portfolio for certain media/film degrees in australia. But I don't think I'll go on to study camera skills alone. Coz you know, if one wants to make films, simple skills might do, and story ideas and creative ways to frame them are important! Do I need years just studying a course to do film.. Or can I just try to join a movie company, and work my way up from the bottom, picking up the skills along the way? This might be better. Studying doesn't count so much as experience in sectors like film? Or I could just get my degree first (for security reasons it may indeed be), and after the 3 or 4 years I seriously go and jostle my way into the film industry already.. Haha, something like that.. Guess after studying in Australia, I'll come back to Singapore for a few years and get basic experience.. Maybe do a diploma in film sound video at ngee ann poly then?? I'll be so freaking old! But aiya whatever.. I don't think I should do the diploma nw.. I dun foresee it'll accomplish a lot for me.. I try to go to the outside world, and learn more 'worldly' things first.. It'll help me to mature, I think.. But of course, I'm scared on one hand! It's only natural.. Come back then do the diploma also can.. Either that, or australia also has independent courses on film making at this SAE institute or something.. This SAE institute is a worldwide institute, so I read on Wikipedia.. Impt thing is, I'll be coming back to Singapore for a few years after studying in Australia yeah? Try to enter Monash first, I guess.. I wonder.. After I return to Singapore to work for a few years, could I go overseas to explore opportunities again? Will try! For now, guess I'll not just learn camera skills first, but continue my learning of general knowledge first!

I hope my scores allow me to enter! I meet the bare minimum.. Shit.. I worry about that too.. Got cause to worry mah.. But they should be willing to accept international students who can pay for it.. And I do meet the bare minimum anyways.. Monash? Melbourne? I hope you're a good choice

If you knew what I've been experiencing.. Surfacing of new options.. Then become closed to me.. Then some more new options surface.. If Monash is gonna be a pretty gd choice, and pray this option doesn't close for me, then I'll finally be done with my decision!

God help me! Ma, help me also.. Hopefully it's gonna be just fine! I'll be gone now! Mid afternoon already! I delayed working on the film script, and it's supposed to be completed.. today?? I've started on it just a bit ^-^

/ believe in wonderland,
with you in my mind
it's not that hard to believe
i'm in wonderland
and that's where I am
only a place to where we know
and never escape into reality
plunge into a fantasy

just about my love
