I went to Far East Plaza after work today, planning to buy one pair of shoes I had wanted to buy previously.. The first time I saw those shoes, they cost like $25 to $30.. When I went back to check out the same shoes today, they were on sale at $18.50! My lucky day! Haha.. Imagine if I had bought it at the price of $25 to $30.. Quite a big difference wor.. Who would know buying stuff just a little later, can pay a much lower price? I'm sure this has happened to many of us before.. Not long after buying an item, we find out that the price has gone down considerably.. Aiyo.. Now I know, shopping can be precarious! Lolx

But today, I shopped very boldly! Don't know how so much courage was instilled in me.. Know what happened? I spent a total of $100 today! Yup, all of that $100 was spent all in a day.. In 2 hours, to be exact.. Ahaha.. Crazy woman huh! BUT. I actually got 6 items with this $100.. 6 items, you know! Is it not quite an achievement to have gotten quite a good many items with the money? You can do the calculations, and know that I spent less than $20 for each item I bought leh.. I bought nice stuff too.. A variation in fact.. 2 shirts, 1 bag, 1 pair of shoes, and 1 cap.. Cool stuff..^_^ Oh and, the last item is a birthday gift for my brother.. He likes the schnauzer dog.. Those kind with tuffs of hair covering their eyes, and a tuff of hair above its mouth also, which makes it look like it has some sort of moustache.. It's a cute breed.. I didn't get my brother a real life dog lah, of course not! Although you must have expected this, it must sound very anti-climatic still.. Lolz.. I got him a toy schnauzer from Mini Toons.. Hahaha.. He liked it ok.. Better than nothing.. At first, he had planned to buy a real dog, but don't know what has become of the plan leh.. But back to what I was saying, I bought 6 items, and 1 of them was not even for myself.. 5 items were for myself, and considering I really got good bargains, should I still feel guilty about spending my $100? No lah, I don't have a need to feel guilty! I'm working within my budget lehz.. My father now gives me $150 per month.. Sometimes I have to buy food with this money too.. In this case, the $150 really becomes quite hard to 'survive' on for a whole month! Lol.. But I'm not complaining too much lah.. $100 is gone.. I got $50 left then.. For the month of Februrary.. Oh and, I realize that.. Februrary has not even arrived yet, though it's around the corner.. Aaaaahhhhhh~!~!~!~!~! *falls into a deep abyss*

Yet, how interesting that I could shop like that! Hahaz.. But I will know it when I just cannot let go of something worth to buy.. And if I don't buy it right then, I would keep it in mind, and still go back to buy it another time..

So, I won't be asking from my dad for extra money this month anyway! My guilt is gone! (and never was there to begin with, hehehe)

I'm spending more time that I had planned to write this entry, and I don't want to! I'm going to blog in point form again:

Updates About My Borders Job
1. I'm not just shelving books now! Switched to answering enquiries at the information counter.. A much more lively job.. I got bored just shelving books for hours.. Seldom get to check out the books while shelving either.. Have to work fast mah.. And I had thought working at Borders would allow me to check out the sypnosis on the covers of all the fiction books.. But no leh.. You just gotta find the location of the books and shelve them in.. Nobody else stood around to check out the sypnosis of any book.. Turns out that some Borders staff don't do much reading.. I think I can assume I'm one of those working there who reads relatively more.. But I don't check out the books while shelving also bcoz I got lazy lah.. Once you start the alphabetting, you won't interrupt the alphabetting going on in your head mah.. So I just shelved book after book, and it got boring.. Shelving doesn't involve that much pressure (though you will have a quota to finish shelving); serving customers at info counter is more pressurizing, coz you have to hurry so as to not keep customers waiting, and must remember some computer procedures lor.. Mostly what I do at the info counter is to use Altavista, and find a book the customer wants.. If the system shows that Borders carries the book, then have to take the customer to look for the book on the shelves.. Not so bad afterall lah.. Can walk all over the store briskly.. Which is what I like.. Haha.. I don't like to be cooped in a small space, and to have very little activity going on..

2. I also have a bit of a slang while I talk to customers at the info counter.. Haha.. Not really lah.. It is not anything exaggerating.. It's something that comes naturally, when providing service to customers.. Generally speaking.. With that slight slang, I can still be my normal self.. Can still have a very Singaporean, casual way about me.. I like to speak casually, as you know.. I never throw away my 'lah's and 'mah's.. When talking to customers, I don't use my 'lah's and all, but still can manage to sound relaxed and casual.. I don't want to be tensed when talking to ppl mah.. This kind of thing must train oneself.. I take up my part-time jobs all to learn all these, ya know.. And it's good! I'm fine with talking to strangers anytime now.. All the customers, that is.. I think, it's with ppl that we know (and we know them not too well) that we have difficulty conversing with.. What we would have to do would then be called socializing.. Different from serving a customer who is a stranger.. Socializing is way harder.. It happens when you need to talk to someone you don't know too well, yet the common ground is just not there.. That makes it hard.. Socializing sounds more like some superficial thing.. Like you go around mixing with everyone, but end up not really knowing anyone.. If it were something deeper, then it's called friendship.. And with friendship, the common ground would already be there.. So it's not difficult like socializing.. And I suck at socializing. X) But I have gained the understanding that I can choose not to care sometimes. Because socializing is not friendship. Haha! I like this lil riddle of mine!

Oh and, I imagine in future I may tell ang moh directors in Hollywood my idea for a film script, and tell it fluently or something.. And they will reply me in good cheer and gusto, "Yes! Wonderful! Brilliant!" or sth like that..XD

3. They teach you how to do things only once or twice at Borders, and you gotta learn things quickly as well.. I served at info counter like only twice, and they counted me as a pro there already! Coz soon I was the only one handling info counter in the early hrs of the day.. Later in the day, when there are more customers, then some of the staff would leave their shelving duties and help serve at the info counter lor.. But I also like this! It's better to try to think on your own feet, as well as learn things thru your own hands-on (and the mere first two times I served at info counter helped a lot in making me feel comfortable with all the computers there and such; I freaked out a little, jumping fr one computer to another, but it's the hands-on that got me to feel more comfortable with the duties there :-))

One last thing is, I'm starting my guitar lessons soon! Just one more extra activity has already made things difficult already.. My work schedule has already clashed with the friday guitar lessons.. How do people juggle NUMEROUS activities? I'm already facing problem with just 2 activities..=/ I tried a number of solutions! Called to the Borders stores through the book enquiry line sia.. No choice, the person I wanted to swap shifts with, I don't get to see her around one.. We all have different work shifts.. So paiseh to call the store when I'm not a customer but an employee! Wait I kenna scolding arh.. Nevermind this though, the person couldn't swap shifts with me coz she had something on at that time too! Then I thought of swapping shifts on different days.. I thought it would not be trouble for the management coz got the 1 person there to work at that time can already mah, doesn't matter who right.. Yet usually, only shifts on the same day are swapped.. And other than this, got another off-day problem which removed the possibility of swapping shifts on different days.. The latest solution I have thought of is to go the Wednesday's guitar class instead of Friday's(I was told to go for Friday's class initially)! Just for this week.. Hopefully can.. Though the Wednesday guitar class is said to be full.. Yet, I'm hoping they will allow just one more person (i.e. me) to sit in the class just for this one day.. The rest of the weeks, I sure hope I can have my work schedule arranged to allow for my Friday class!

/ believe in wonderland,
with you in my mind
it's not that hard to believe
i'm in wonderland
and that's where I am
only a place to where we know
and never escape into reality
plunge into a fantasy

just about my love
