I had thought I have nothing much to say abt the James Bond movie, but I posted a comment on a friend's blog with regards to the movie, and thus I found that I do have more thoughts abt it! I like the new portrayal of James Bond coz they have made him different from the previous versions, such that the new James Bond is less than perfect.. A 21st century Bond movie needs a 21st century emotionally and psychologically scarred James Bond! And this is so for Daniel Craig's version of James Bond.. No more mere physical injury, as it was for the previous versions of James Bond.. The new version has emotional and psychological injury thrown into the package.. And I think it's great..=)
The trend of showing James Bond to be close to perfect has gone on long enough anyway.. So I think it's nice that this time, things move on from there.. But I'll still be watching "Die Another Day"! It's gonna be shown on tv soon.. Then can see the difference btwn the diff James Bond(s)..^^
And you know what else, I have just thought how it's now common to have the emotional and psychological element added to action films.. Last time, what did we have? "Rambo".. Haha.. I think I'm right to say that it just has pure violence, and does not consist of the emtional element right.. And now? We have "New Police Story" and "Divergence".. Both cop movies with the neccessary action elements, but we also have Jackie Chan and Aaron Kwok crying in the movies.. And I've always wanted to ask.. Can anyone tell me how did Aaron Kwok win that acting award for crying while eating his hamburger? I find that quite amusing, just like others, who had reported that in the newspapers.. But not that I'm shooting down Aaron Kwok's talent.. He's an admirable artiste.. And do you know that Jay Chou has written a song for him in his new album! My gosh! The links that you can make when you make it big!
Oh, but my original point was.. Now there does seem to be a trend of having the emotional and psychological element in action movies too.. Quite a good thing..
Because I have yet another general thought to make.. Last time, we had the period of Romanticism.. And that was based on the emotional self.. Whereas now in the 21st century, I think we're going the way of the progression of the psychological state of mind.. Hmm how should I say this.. That's why now we have such importance placed on the human mind being the most precious resource you know? That's why I have thought that the mind versus mind idea in movie can strike up a trend in modern times.. A basic example - Death Note.. And that's why we have worries of computers taking over humans you know? Our worry is that computers could reach the level of the human -mind-, and then make us humans redundant.. And this worry is greater for the fact that robots in future would not only become as smart as us, but they may also be ruthless so as to want to threaten our position on Earth - thus emotionless.. See what I mean when I talk abt emotion vs 21st century importance on the mind? And isn't it a rife problem even now, that our working so hard in front of our computers all day long, are turning us into people who are void of emotion and who can't appreciate the aesthetics? My point proven!!! Lol.. Hey it was fun writing this sia..=^.^=
And I also think, it's quite interesting to think of a robot being able to love.. In fact, I'm now reading a Japanese comic book my friend had lent to me, which has a brief idea about that.. But the comic is of the romance genre, and not scientific.. But that's also "Artificial Intelligence"! I loved that show! But I have not watched the entire movie sia..=S I wonder if I can get my hands on it again..
But anyway that's all from me for now! I managed to borrow the book "Jonathan Strange and Dr Norrell" from Tampines Library! So lucky! o^.^o I greatly suspect that the idea of "The Prestige" came from this book.. For instance, here's a part from the book's cover at the back.. "Two magicians shall appear in England; The first shall fear me; The second shall long to behold me" One magician who's ambitious to the state of madness, and another who gets deeper in it and then starts to have doubts and fears about it.. Highly similar right! But these days, you can't have completely original ideas anymore, with so many ideas having been thought of and used already.. You wouldn't even know if your idea is truly yours or not.. But the book is gonna occupy me for a bloody long time.. Haha.. 782 pages.. The thickness is what's scary, though 782 pages may not sound like a lot..
Ok, that's all! See ya
