But actually I was just thinking.. It's those songs which make you feel love is such a great thing, that would be truly good songs.. For me, examples include The Calling's "Wherever You Will Go".. I love the guitar music.. It's calming, and emotional cos it somehow gives me that kind of lover-being-faraway feel.. And that's just what the song is about.. Man, it's good..=D Maybe I'll wanna learn to play both the piano and the guitar after the "A"s! Another example is Nickleback's "Far Away".. Also has a pretty majestic feel.. Like the love actually stretches so far out again.. With all the echoes and such in the song.. And cos of the feeling of the love stretching far out, the idea of the love being so vast and so great also comes up.. It's always nice to listen to such songs again from time to time.. Songs which still stir up feelings though one has listened to them over a long time, are really the best.. Songs can link up with personal memories too.. Pffft, actually I dunno anything abt music as yet, but it'll be nice to be able to 'wan yin yue'.. Play around with music instruments, try to compose a tune or two.. Just follow one's heart, and have a go at it.. It'll be cool, and I'll wanna try soon.. And a last example is Yong Bang's "Zui Shen Ai De Nu Ren".. It's an old song, but you never get too tired listening to it.. Oh and, Martina McBride's "My Valentine".. Yet another classic example.. These songs will stay around for some time, they won't die out.. That's why they're good songs.. And Jay Chou's songs dun make me feel the way some of these songs make me feel.. Different category althogether.. Youngster love songs, such as those sung by Jay Chou, may sound good, but they don't have a feeling as deep.. So actually, perhaps english music can be said to be more classic.. Hmm a classic love song.. I'll try to come up with such a tune after I take up piano lessons.. Lol yeahyeah x_x
And something else to add on to this is that chinese singers(the younger, mainstream ones) don't include many of Jay Chou's standards even.. Or that of Wu Yue Tian.. I think I can be confident to say they really make good music, and it's not that I'm saying it's my judgement that's definitely right lah..=_=" The rest of the music market are made up with the boybands or girlbands with their pretty faces, but their music is never, er.. Inspirational.. (I know I use this word a little too often, but that's the way I am) Solo singers also have their own packaging.. Like Pan Wei Bo and his cute rapper guy style.. I just have to mention the name Cyndi Wang, and you will know what I want to say.. Cyndi Wang just had to go the cutie pie way, didn't she.. Her first album was actually pretty good, but the way she sounds in some of her songs now makes my face contort in disbelief.. And will you believe that they are adults.. Do they agree to do such things? Or are they controlled too much by their music companies? The world is just full of capitalists.. Haha.. What a thing to say.. But there's some sense in that, isn't it? And a capitalist world can destroy real talent.. A capitalist world can sideline the really good music, and even really good movies..
Think of the movies "The Hulk" and "Superman Returns".. They were horrible right.. You can't even imagine any effort was put into planning the plot.. But their advantage was that they were comic book movies, and so they already had a fan base who would most probably catch the movie.. So that's possibly why it wasn't neccessary to make it the best possible movie or anything.. Just produce something that can satisfy would be enough.. And just have enough movie promotion to inform the fans about it.. And you'll notice that "The Hulk" and "Superman Returns" did have a lot of promotion right.. My brother told me about this kind of happening actually.. He learnt it in his Uni lecture or something.. Dunno how true this is.. Does seem true though..
Blockbuster movies with ridiculous plots are just so distasteful, you know! It's like the tiny plot can't handle the great size of the movie.. Then it's a complete flop lah.. Waste the money pumped into the production process, and cheat consumers' money.. But the capitalists make great gains indeed..=S
Money only spells trouble.. But of cos we all need it =X
